NUNAMKHALU VILLAS & SPA REVIEW
As you may know, I was in beautiful Bali last month. I was in Uluwatu, among other places, where I really discovered a super nice hotel; Nunamkhalu villas & spa. Very affordable (hotel) villas with a swimming pool, a cozy atmosphere and a great spa. Read all about it in the article below.
Nunamkhalu Villas & Spa
The boutique hotel Nunamkhalu is located in Uluwatu, a part of Bali that is a “must see” for anyone traveling to the Island of the Gods. I saw beautiful pictures of private villas with their own swimming pool on the internet and immediately became wildly enthusiastic. I was lucky: because it was low season, I could book a swimming pool villa for only 75 euros per night. You will understand that I quickly pressed the confirmation button for the reservation ;).
Upon arrival at the Nunamkhalu hotel, I was certainly not disappointed. The hotel was just as beautiful as the pictures promised. I was warmly welcomed by the crew with a welcome drink in the stylish lobby that was decorated with natural materials. After that, I was of course very eager to admire my villa and swimming pool as quickly as possible.
The Villa
The villa was about the size of a palace. Equipped with a kitchen, living room, bedroom and a bath-room where you could host a ball including a bathtub that would fit your entire family. The villa was furnished with beautiful furniture. Last , but certainly not least, the swimming pool, was adjacent to all rooms. So you can splash right into the water straight from your bed, how nice is that?! Although I am actually not the swimming type, I could not resist such a challenging pool next door. So in no time I was relaxing in my own pool. Fabulous.
The restaurant
After my swimming session, it was time to take care of the inner person. Fortunately, people do not bother about opening times of the kitchen in Indonesia, so I could sit down for a snack and a drink at 5am. Nunamkhalu has two restaurants, but one of them was closed because of the low season. The restaurant that was open offers a mainly Western menu with hamburgers, salads et cetera… To be honest, I missed an offering of healthy dishes, because, as you know, I am quite a health freak. But when I asked if the chicken soup could be spiced up with a portion of extra vegetables, that was no problem at all. Furthermore, there was no green tea on the menu, but that was bought especially for me at the local supermarket. Wow, what a service.
Spa
The huge spa at the hotel is a big plus. It is beautiful, large and you can book wonderful treatments
with the lovely staff. I underwent several massages, after which I staggered all the way back to my villa. You can also go there for facials, manicure and pedicure, but I have not tried them.
Surroundings of Nunamkhalu
The hotel is in Uluwatu, in my opinion the nicest part of Bali. It is pure and mass tourism has not yet really discovered this part of the island. Moreover, the most beautiful beaches of the island are located here. I completely fell in love with The Green Bowl Beach, as it is breathtakingly beautiful there. In addition, Pandawa beach, a 10 minutes’ drive from the hotel, is more than worth a visit. I should not forget to mention the beach clubs in the area. For example, I spent a day at Sundays beach club, where I was completely pampered and joyed while staring at the azure blue sea. If you wanted to order something from the more than excellent menu, you could wave a flag. Very decadent! It was an exceptional day at the beach, to which I often look back at with pleasure.
Finally
You understand, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Nunamkhalu. Thanks to the hospitable attitude of the lovely crew, I quickly felt at home there. In addition, it has an excellent price-quality ratio and is centrally located in Uluwatu. I even enjoyed it so much that I ended my stay in another hotel to go back to Nunamkhalu. Upon my return, a bath was waiting for me filled with colorful flowers that formed a heart. Super sweet! In May, I will return to Bali and I think you can guess where I will stay ;-).

Zoals je misschien weet, was ik vorige maand op het prachtige Bali. Ik was o.a. in Uluwata, waar ik echt een super leuk hotel heb ontdekt; Nunamkhalu villas & spa. Denk aan zeer betaalbare (hotel)villa’s met zwembad, een knusse sfeer en een geweldige spa. Lees er alles over in dit artikel.
Nunamkhalu Villas & Spa
Het boutiekhotel Nunamkhalu ligt in Uluwata, een stukje Bali dat een “must see” is voor iedereen die naar het godeneiland afreist. Ik zag op internet prachtige plaatjes voorbij komen van privé villa’s met eigen zwembadje en werd meteen wild enthousiast. Ik had geluk: omdat het laagseizoen was, kon ik een zwembadvilla boeken voor slechts 75,00 euro. Je begrijpt vast dat ik die reserveringsknop razendsnel indrukte ;-).
Bij aankomst in het Nunamkhalu hotel werd ik zeker niet teleurgesteld. Het hotel was in werkelijkheid net zo mooi als de foto’s hadden beloofd. Ik werd hartelijk ontvangen door de crew met een welkomstdrankje in de stijlvolle lobby, die met natuurlijke materialen is ingericht. Daarna stond ik natuurlijk te popelen om met gezwinde spoed mijn villa en zwembad te gaan bewonderen.
De villa
De villa was ongeveer zo groot als een paleis. Voorzien van een keuken, living, slaapkamer en een badkamer waarin je ook een bal kunt houden. Allemaal ingericht met mooie meubelen. Verder niet te vergeten een ligbad waarin je met je hele familie past. En dan natuurlijk Het Zwembad, dat pal aan alle kamers grenst. Dus vanuit je bed kun je regelrecht het water in plonsen, hoe leuk is dat. Nu ben ik absoluut geen zwemtype, maar zo’n uitdagend badje naast de deur kon ik zelfs niet afslaan. Dus in no time lag ik heerlijk te badderen in mijn eigen pool. Heerlijk.
Het restaurant
Na mijn zwemsessie was het tijd om de inwendige mens te verzorgen. Gelukkig doen ze in Indonesië niet moeilijk over openingstijden van de keuken en kon ik gewoon om 5 uur aanschuiven voor een hapje en een drankje. Er zijn in het Nunamkhalu normaal gesproken 2 restaurants, maar eentje was er dicht omdat het laagseizoen was. Degene die wel open was, heeft vooral een westerse kaart met hamburgers, salades etc.. Ik mist eerlijk wel een beetje wat gezonde gerechten, want ik ben natuurlijk best een gezondheidsfreak. Maar toen ik vroeg of hun kippensoep een beetje opgeleukt kon worden met een portie extra groenten, was dat geen enkel probleem. Verder stond er geen groene thee op de kaart, maar dat werd speciaal voor mij gehaald bij de lokale supermarkt. Kijk, dat is service.
Spa
Een van de grote pluspunten van het hotel is de enorme spa. Deze is mooi, groot en je kunt er heerlijke behandelingen boeken bij het lieve personeel. Ik onderging er meerdere massages, waarna ik helemaal zen terugstrompelde naar mijn huisje. Je kunt er ook terecht voor facials, manicure en pedicure, maar die heb ik niet uitgeprobeerd.
Omgeving van Nunamkhalu
Het hotel ligt in Uluwatu, wat mij betreft het leukste stukje Bali. Het is er puur en het massa toerisme heeft deze hoek nog niet echt ontdekt. Bovendien heb je hier de prachtigste standen van het hele eiland. Zo raakte ik helemaal van de leg van The Green Bowl, zo adembenemend mooi was het daar. Ook Pandawa beach, zo’n 10 minuten rijden vanaf het hotel, is meer dan de moeite waard. En laat ik vooral de beachclubs in de omgeving niet vergeten. Ik was bijvoorbeeld bij Sundaysbeach club, waar ik mezelf een dag helemaal in de watten liet leggen met uitzicht op een azuurblauwe zee. Je mocht er – heel decadent- met een vlaggetje zwaaien als je iets wilde bestellen van de meer dan prima kaart. Een ultiem dagje strand, waar ik nog vaak met plezier aan terugdenk.
Tot slot
Je begrijpt, ik kan je het Nunamkhalu van harte aanbevelen. Door de gastvrije instelling van de lieve crew voelde ik mij er al snel thuis. Daarbij heeft het een uitstekende prijs-kwaliteit verhouding en ligt het centraal in Uluwatu. Ik vond het er zelfs zo leuk, dat ik mijn verblijf in een ander hotel heb beëindigd en terug ben gegaan naar het Nunamkhalu. Waar bij terugkomst een bad op me stond te wachten met daarin allemaal kleurige bloemen die een hart vormden. Té lief! In mei ga ik trouwens weer naar Bali en 3 keer raden waar ik dan ga slapen ;-).
